To Sell More, Avoid Cognitive Dissonance in Your Communications

By Suzanne Wood Cogni-what? While it's not my way to flaunt 40-dollar words, cognitive dissonance is a term all marketers and communicators should be aware of. It could mean the difference between clients who close the deal and clients who close the door. Cognitive dissonance is a psychology term that refers to the way our brains are always looking for consistency between beliefs we've already formed and any new information or impressions we receive. For instance, if you went to a Rolls Royce showroom, you'd have a good idea of how the place would look, how the salespeople would be dressed, and how you'd be served. It's safe to say if you walked into the dealership expecting to be treated like Prince Charles and encountered a salesman wearing overalls and slurping Mountain Dew, a floor covered in sawdust and Hank Williams Jr. blaring through the sound system, you'd be shocked. Not only would you leave without a new set of car keys, you'd probably head for the nearest hospital for a brain scan. An extreme example, perhaps--and my apologies to overalls-loving, country music fans--but this is cognitive dissonance. Do your customers or prospects have certain expectations when they dial your number, visit your Website or stop by your office? You bet they do. And what happens when their experiences are at odds with their beliefs? At the minimum, they're puzzled or disappointed. At worst, they're so put-off they'll take their business elsewhere. Anytime you interact with the public, you have the opportunity to create either cognitive assonance--when expectations and experiences mesh--or cognitive dissonance. Your "proxies"--Website, brochures, signage, printed policies, invoices, business cards, even your lobby or offices--also have an impact on how well your customers' expectations jibe with their impressions. How do you avoid cognitive dissonance? First, be clear about the expectations your clients and prospects hold. For example, if you're a lawyer or financial professional, they'll expect a sober, formal, traditional, successful image, from the way you're dressed to the verbiage on your Website to the colors on your business card. Then audit all the ways your company makes itself known to world. These include: Signage: It goes without saying that if you have signs, they should be clear and free of spelling and grammatical errors, and their tone should be friendly and welcoming. With the exception of a biker bar or maybe a pawn shop, I can't think of any businesses that benefit from having rude, offensive or sternly worded mandates hanging about. For instance, the neighborhood family pizza joint I frequent serves some of the best pizza in town, but has silly rules posted that raise my hackles: "Check takeout orders before leaving. We are NOT responsible for incorrect orders after you leave!" and "Absolutely no checks." These messages contrast sharply with the warm, friendly staff. I won't stop eating their pizza because of their poor PR practices, but you can bet if another pizza place with comparable food opened nearby, I'd be tempted to defect. Website: Not only should your Website be as professional looking as your brochures and other marketing collateral, it should share the same tone, messaging and design. If a customer or prospect reads one thing in your brochure, hears another thing from one of your customer associates and reads something else again on your Website, he's not going to be in a buying mood. Front-line employees: A toy store with grouchy, potty-mouthed clerks? A physician practice with gossipy, unfeeling nurses? That's a recipe for cognitive dissonance. It's fair to say that many businesses don't spend enough time training their employees to represent the company in the best possible light. If possible, take a cue from mystery shoppers and call or visit your company anonymously. Then make training or hiring adjustments to better reflect your company mission and image. Printed materials: Have a trusted advisor, friend or client review all your printed materials--business cards, letterhead, brochures, invoices, fax cover sheets, policies, manuals, etc.--for inconsistencies between wording and the image you hope to project. And keep in mind that an organization that receives charitable or public dollars should have somewhat subdued, moderately-priced materials unless it's clear that a for-profit company sponsored them. Conversely, a business that caters to an affluent crowd should have materials that convey wealth and high status through paper choice, color, design and typography. Don't get me wrong. Sometimes it's good to dash expectations, as in the ugly duckling who attends her 20th class reunion as a svelte, ravishing swan. But when it comes to your business, consistency counts. How to Make a Woman Love You in 5 Simple Steps

By Scott Patterson At some point in his life, EVERY guy wants to know how to make a woman fall in love with him. While it's a lot of fun to date different women and play the field, there will be a time when you want to go beyond a casual relationship. In fact you'll eventually want to get into a loving relationship But how can you make the woman you're with to love you back? Well here are 5 simple tips you can use to help allow a woman to reciprocate your love. Step #1- Know that love is different then attraction The one thing you should always remember is attracting a woman is MUCH different then getting her to love you. In other words, you can out on a whole mysterious persona like you would with the basic attraction techniques. When you start to develop romantic feelings for a woman you should use it as opportunity to show the REAL you that's hidden beneath the surface. With love, you have to show FEELINGS and reciprocate her nurturing nature. You should allow her to be attracted to the fun and alpha side of you, but love the good person you are deep inside. Step #2- Act like a MAN Real men don't act in a deceptive and fake manner. If you want her to love you, you must be worthy of this love. This means avoiding all the games that men and women play during the courtship period. A real man is good to the woman he's with and doesn't do anything to hurt her. Ultimately her love must be returned through YOUR actions and words. So if you're into dating multiple women, don't tell her she's the ONLY one. In fact, if don't want to settle down, do yourself a favor and keep her at an emotional distance. It'll only end up hurting her feelings if you're not looking for a committed relationship. Step #3- Make your intentions evident I'm going to be honest here buddy Women like to think long term! If you've established yourself in a relationship, then she's probably though about what it'll be like with you on a permanent basis (ie: marriage). So if this is something you want in your life, then your actions should reflect this goal.
In essence you have to act in a way that'll demonstrate a genuine desire to settle down and possibly marry her. To do this, you should bring her around your friends, invite her to important functions in your life and basically include her in all aspects of your life. Step #4- Communicate with her Communication is to key to developing a loving relationship. Unfortunately as a gender we're not known for our skill at communicating our feelings. However if you're serious about this woman, you have to be open about things which are going on in your life. This also means taking a genuine interest in what she's doing and getting to know her an intimate capacity. Furthermore, there will be times when the two of you will get in an argument. When these moments happen, you have to remember she is someone you love, and you shouldn't say anything which you can't take back. In other words don't intentionally hurt her feelings. Step #5- Keep things fun and sexual Finally you must ensure that your relationship is still fun and exciting as it evolves. While most women are looking for a special someone who can share her feelings, you can't let things get boring and stagnant. If you're serious about this woman then you must WORK to keep things fun. This means treating her like a queen and keeping the romance alive. So on exciting trips, buy her presents and don't be afraid to spice things up in the bedroom. Love is the ultimate goal of a serious relationship. If you can make her love you then you'll be on the pathway towards build an incredible future with the woman of your dreams. Career Mentorship

By Manik Thapar This section talks about the importance of having a mentor in your life. Mentors are individuals who you look up. You may or may not know them personally, but they inspire you to move towards a certain direction. Key To your Success Having a mentor is a crucial key to successone that many women in todays workforce simply do not have. And its no surprise. With only six women at the helm of Fortune 500 companies, less than 13 percent of the corporate officer ranks made up of women, and the time pressures all working women confront, finding a mentor may seem next to impossible. But be open-minded about potential mentors. A good mentor can be a man, a woman, a person of a color different from yours, or even your boss. The most important factor is that you and your mentor can comfortably exchange feedback and ideas . Mentorship may be the single most important reason whyamong the equally talentedmen tend to rise higher than women. And Catalyst should know, having recently published a book of workplace advice titled, Be Your Own Mentor. Catalyst, a non-profit organization, has been working to advance women in business and the professions for 40 years. In carrying out our mission, we talk to many successful womendiverse womenall of whom believe that having mentors is an essential success strategy. You may be thinking, I work hard, I really know my stuff. Why do I need a mentor? First, mentors can give you the big picture. Understanding performance expectations can be trickyparticularly when there are subtle expectations for employees in all organizations. Mentors can also help you find a suitable style by cluing you into the rules of the gamecommonly known as office politics. Navigating the political landscape of an organization can take years to master on your own, and avoidable mistakes can be costly. Also, keep in mind that even as a top performer, getting challenging assignments can be tough. Mentors can open doors for you by introducing you into their networks and recommending you for high-visibility assignments and promotions. Now you know you need a mentor. Who should you look for?
Be strategic. Figure out what kind of coaching and advice you need, then look for people who can give it to you. Remember that its nearly impossible to find everything you want in one person. Instead, become the mentee of several talented people. So, how do you find a mentor? You can start by following Catalysts Finding a Mentor Action List. Make a connection, but start small. Dont scare off a potential mentor by calling and asking, Would you like to mentor me? Try e-mailing or calling a potential mentor to discuss a project she has worked on or to ask a question within her area of expertise. Remember, get them vested without scaring them off. Volunteer to help. Take the opportunity to strut your stuff in front of a potential mentor. Offer to help on a project or volunteer in a charity in which your mentor is involved. Find out whether your company has a formal mentoring program. One of the best places to find a mentor is in your own organization. Formal mentoring relationships offer opportunities to focus on specific goals. Look outside your company. If your company does not have a formal mentoring program, join a mentoring organization, or check out your industry association or alumni group. They often provide coaching on key topics like presentation skills, salary negotiation, and how to run an effective meeting. Once youve found key people and begun developing the right relationships, keep the following tips for being a good mentte in mind. Exceed performance expectations. Demonstrate your openness to coaching and feedback. Listen carefully to your mentors advice and incorporate those insights that make sense for your career. Ask a lot of questions. Inform your mentor of significant career accomplishments and failures. Share with your mentor the advice that made the most difference for you and why. Give back to your mentorbe loyal; return favors. Finally, as you progress in your career, dont forget to reach back. Become a mentor yourself. Vist

Conducting Pre-Employment Reference Inquiries and Background Investigations

By L Scott Harrell Reference and background inquiries allow an employer to verify information provided by the applicant. Companies who make proper and judicious use of the information gathered as a result of a thorough background investigation typically reduce exposure to employee fraud, theft, embezzlement, turnover, unqualified employees, negligent hiring claims and violence in the workplace. The following are the most important aspects that makeup a background investigation. Additionally, how the information can be used to significantly reduce employee difficulties and employment litigation is also discussed: EMPLOYER REFERENCES-
Checking past employers is used primarily to verify information provided by the applicant on resumes and applications such as dates of employment, job title, compensation, reasons for separation, and re-hire status. With even a small amount of information provided by a past or current employer, you may be able to gauge an applicants skill, ability and honesty or perhaps areas such as attendance problems, violent behavior, and manageability. Required element in the defense of negligent hiring claims (regardless of whether or not the reference shares information). EDUCATION VERIFICATION-
An important integrity check. Surveys suggest that as many as 1 in 3 resumes and applications contain inaccurate education assertions and that more than 500,000 Americans have bought their academic degrees. This area contains the second highest rate of inaccuracy, behind salary. This check verifies education commiserate with position requirements. This is one of the easiest checks to pursue. This may include industry specific certifications and other non-degree-oriented training. PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL REFERENCES-
Similar to screening employer references and great for gaining an insight into some personality traits of the applicant. Addresses of friends and family that are in other states, or are otherwise a great distance away, may also indicate that the candidate had lived in that area. This is important regarding criminal record checks. DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLE REPORTS-
May verify the type, status, validity, and restrictions of the applicants drivers license. Can also be used to verify information provided by the candidate such as current address, date of birth and license endorsements. Essential if the applicant will drive on company time or use company vehicles. May indicate a history of substance abuse. Required element in the defense of negligent hiring claims. SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER TRACE-
A specialized report that may indicate a social security numbers validity or uncover aliases and other people using the same number. Generally includes a candidates current and previously reported addresses for comparison to an application. Previous addresses should be used in the criminal history check. Required element in defense of negligent hiring claims. CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS-
Make a thorough criminal background check. It is not uncommon for employers to be sued for an employees illegal acts. Do not check arrest histories, only records of criminal convictions. Compare to application to determine a candidates honesty. You should not immediately disqualify a candidate for convictions, unless they are not included on the application. Convictions must recent and job related (i.e. driver applicant with a DWI conviction or a retail candidate convicted of shoplifting or theft). The criminal background check is essential in considering a candidates character, integrity, history of violent behavior, and suitability for the job. It is best to visit the appropriate countys Clerk of Court criminal records office in person but you can also reach them by phone, fax, computer or mail. Past performance is indicative of future results. Required element in the defense of negligent hiring claims. If you should find information that causes you not to hire an individual, keep a copy for your records. PRE-EMPLOYMENT CREDIT CHECK-
Also called a PEER report by credit reporting bureaus. This report is similar to a standard consumer credit report. It may contain secured and unsecured loan, revolving credit (credit card) and other debt information, as well as payment history. It may include information from public record sources such as judgments, liens, and bankruptcies. Used to gauge a candidates fiscal responsibility and financial pressures. May also include information from the less expensive Social Security Trace. FEDERAL AND STATE LICENSE VERIFICATION-
Used when an applicant must have a license for the job. Verifies the validity, type and status of required licensing. Complaints and administrative actions regarding licensed individuals may also be available. Required element in the defense of negligent hiring claims. HONESTY, ATTITUDE AND PERSONALITY TESTING-
Although not a background or reference investigation, these tests have a definite place in the pre-hire process. These surveys measure a candidates attitude regarding honesty, ethics, substance abuse, reliability, work and supervisors. These test typically cost between $6-$10 per candidate. Over 45% of Fortune 100 Companies use profile testing at some level in their organization. DRUG SCREENING-
Again, tests for the use of illicit drug use also have a definite place in the pre-hire process. Many studies have linked drug use in the workplace to higher than average losses. According to one such study, the average theft incident per employee with a substance addiction is 6.3 times higher than to the average theft incident committed by a non-addicted employee. OSHA has recently re-released information indicating that employees in companies with drug screening programs are 4 times less likely to have job related accidents, equating to greater productivity and profits. Required element in the defense of negligent hiring claims (especially when employees operate machinery, drive on company time or use company vehicles). Keep in mind, the results from these reports must be compared against provided information in order to measure an applicants honesty. Hiring a dishonest candidate is never a good decision. There are many more sources for background and reference investigations than have been included here; a licensed private investigation agency specializing in pre-employment investigations may be able to help you identify and obtain any additional needs. As in all aspects of the hiring process, federal and state laws may govern how you use or share information obtained while conducting these and other checks; always maintain documentation generated as a result of these reports. Furthermore, all positions do not require every check or screening process included; for example, a waiters position in a restaurant may not warrant the expense of a credit check, motor vehicle report or psychological profile testing. Some Important Considerations: All employers should seriously consider a comprehensive drug-screening program. Any time a state or federal license is required for the position, a license verification check must be completed. Background investigations for jobs requiring access to cash, financial records, and valuable merchandise (jewelry, weapons, electronics, etc.) should include a pre-employment credit check, with check-ups performed semi-annually. Department of Motor Vehicle Records should be checked semi-annually. Criminal Background checks should be completed once a year. Additional investigation components should be verified when an employee is promoted. There are many other checks and resources available to the public that can be used to uncover possible sources of fraud, theft, and dishonesty. The components listed above are the most common elements of a background investigation and are not meant to be an exhaustive study. The services of a competent investigations company should be sought to discuss additional options. L. Scott Harrell is the author of Truth or Consequences: Hiring for Integrity, a manual which completely and accurately describes proven pre-employment hiring strategies and interviewing skills developed from 14 years of experience as a private investigator and principal of CompassPoint Investigations. Long Term Unsecured Loan?

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Toni_Phelps]Toni Phelps In order to understand qualifications for loan approval, let's examine the types
of loans; secured and unsecured, and the two types of
re-payment plans: short term and long term.

Secured loans have both short and long term repayment plans. These types of
loans are secured by a form of collateral, such as the equity in a home or auto.
Some lenders will also accept stocks and bonds as security against the loan.

Because these types of loans are secured, the risk to lenders is minimized and
allows borrowers to enjoy lower interest rates than unsecured loans. And; even
if there are still payments due on an existing auto or home loan, it's possible
to get a lower rate than the original loan terms, particularly if the borrower's
credit had improved.

Unsecured loans generally have only a short term repayment plan. The most common
type of unsecured loan is a payday cash advance, or a signature (personal loan)
from a bank. The payday cash advance is a much shorter term loan, most commonly
to extend only until the recipient's following payday. A bank signature
loan; however, generally has a one year repayment plan. Another main difference
between these two types of loans is how the interest rate is calculated. A
payday cash advance charges a fee instead of an interest rate, but Federal
regulations require lenders to provide an "interest computation" so
borrowers can compare rates amongst various loan products and lenders.
When a payday cash advance fee is transformed to an interest rate, the sum is
much higher than a bank signature loan, which is an actual percentage rate
charged over the duration of the loan. But there's yet one more difference
between these two loans which makes payday cash advances more accessible.
Whereas a bank signature loan requires favorable credit, a payday cash advance
does not, making this an attractive loan for bad credit people.

Your credit rating, assets, and the eagerness of a lender to issue a loan, all
determine which types of loans you are qualified for. If you have favorable
credit, consult your local bank loan officer or; if you desire a business loan,
your local SBA. If you have troubled credit, instead of seeking a long
term unsecured loan, consider alternatives such as using your home or auto as
collateral for a secured long term loan, or consider a payday cash advance for a
short term unsecured loan.

(You can learn how to make 10 great designs on the Easy Paper Airplanes Website - just follow the link below.) Next, line up your contestants with their paper airplanes and aim at a target or a finish point with their eyes closed. You'll need someone to be the monitor who will record the following:

The Exiler

By Abhilash Ponnam THE EXILER (your search for true brand attributes ends here!) With the advent of new marketing strategies and techniques, many theories have sprouted up telling you many ways to impress your target customers and make them buy your product. But when it comes to practical implementation of the theories, most of them fail, or give partial results because they are based either on buying behavior of customers or extensive surveys When the customers choose to buy a product they look only into very few features of product / service which are vital for their selection. A semi literate customer (or even a highly educated customer for that instance) never substantiates his choice based upon extensive surveys or consumer behavioral theories. The big players being unable to notice these simple facts spend large sum of money in the name of market research. Lets probe into facts and find out what the customer really wants! I strongly believe there are four key characters which a customer takes into consideration before buying a product or availing a service. If customer is satisfied with these four aspects, only then he feels a strong urge to buy, if not he shall never buy that product/ range of products what ever promotional campaigns might say. In most of the cases promotional schemes are only ephemeral in inducing him. Let me name these four key characteristics as key brand attributes. These KBAs determine the success of the product in the market. Now we shall discuss about them in detail. First of all is AFFORDABILITY. Customer may be induced by the advertisements and other promotional campaigns to buy the product but what matters most at the end while buying is whether he can afford to buy the product or not. If he cant, there is no point in compelling him to go till the stores. So it is very important that the product pricing should be compatible with customers budget for that particular product. Second KBA is QUALITY. According to customers quality is not zero defects. They perceive it and tend to measure it relatively as the comparison of particular product with other products of same kind in terms of amenities, aesthetics, image of brand, utility and usage patterns. So better the quality, more are the chances of sale. Third KBA is DURABILITY. Once the customer checks for quality and affordability of the product, he inspects durability of product. Customer can employ various methods to find out the durability of the product like, checking for product specifications, looking for warranties, guarantees, or by simply touching the product physically. If he finds more than one product is meeting all the 3 criteria, he selects the best one out of them based on single attribute called VARIETY. Variety is how your product is positioned as different from other products. More variety the customer perceives, more are the chances of your product being sold. These 4 KBAs will have the significant influence on the sales volume of business. They might not appear in the same order always, since they often differ with age group, gender and nature of product, but on the whole these are the only factors which have the greater impact on the sales volume of the business. Hope you discovered the elixir for success in your business by now. What Causes Acid Reflux?

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Seth_Miller] Seth Miller Though the root causes are often unclear, perhaps the most prevalent acid reflux cause is a poor diet. Acid reflux occurs during digestion, when the stomach churns up acid or refluxes it into the esophagus, causing a burning sensation in the chest or throat. So if you eat too many highly acidic foods like tomato sauces and/or fatty, fried foods, the stomach has to process an overabundance of acid. Too much acid can push back through a valve between the stomach and the esophagus called the lower esophageal sphincter (LES). Acid reflux culprits include but are not limited to tomato based sauces, fried and fatty foods, chocolate, alcohol, citrus fruits, peppers, and caffeinated beverages. Along the same lines as diet, overeating also causes reflux. When you overeat, the stomach cant keep up with the demand to process all the acids. So food gets backed up, and digestive acids infiltrate the esophageal valve to cause that unpleasant burning feeling centered in the chest. Also diet-related, another acid reflux cause is being overweight. There is a clear correlation between being overweight and a notable increase in the occurrence of acid reflux. Many believe this is because the extra weight puts more pressure on the stomach and esophagus. This pressure has been known to open the lower esophageal sphincter (esophagus valve), when the valve should be closed. This allows acid to escape into the esophagus. Other factors that create a predisposition for acid reflux include smoking, use of alcohol, food allergies, certain medications, and lying down after meals. As you can tell, most of these factors can be overcome by practicing some behavioral modifications. In fact, in many cases of recurrent acid reflux, lifestyle changes are all that is necessary in preventing heartburn from becoming a chronic disease. Remember to consult a physician before embarking on any treatment strategy. about a natural and effective way to fight depression and
fatigue. Besides its physical health benefits, exercise is often said to
help people simply feel good. And a growing number of studies
are showing that these mood-boosting effects may even fight
clinical depression. Researchers found that walking for 30 minutes each day quickly
improved the patients' symptoms--faster, in fact, than
antidepressant drugs typically do. The results indicate that, in selected
patients with major depression, aerobic training can
produce a substantial improvement in symptoms in a short time. Previous studies have suggested that exercise is a potent
mood-booster, and some research indicates that for some patients
regular activity may be a better depression treatment than
psychotherapy or medication. Exactly why is unclear, but
exercise does influence certain mood-related hormones. And it is
also believed to enhance people's sense of control over their
lives. In one study that compared exercise with antidepressants among
older adults, investigators found that physical activity was the
more effective depression-fighter. (British Journal of Sports
Medicine April 2001;35:114-117) We are not talking about running a marathon, just
walking as little as 30 minutes can improve symptoms! I personally have felt these amazing effects after starting an
exercise program when I have been in a mental rut. Believe me,
it will help you too! Thomas Von Ohlen is a clinical nutritionist and developer of Plasma Pro software for doctors. Win At Roulette - 2 Simple Tips To Get The Best Odds!

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Sacha_Tarkovsky]Sacha Tarkovsky If you want to win at roulette forget roulette systems that guarantee you will win, they dont work! Save your money, all you need to know is how to bet with the best odds of success. The good news is, you can get the house edge down to just 1.24% which is great, considering roulette is a game of chance. Lets look at how anyone can win at roulette. Roulette systems dont work If you are thinking that you can win at roulette by buying a roulette system for money, think again! It would be nice if they did work and we could pay a couple of hundred dollars and make a couple of hundred thousand, but life is not like that! The reason roulette systems based on mathematical formulas, dont help anyone win at roulette is simple: They are based on the assumption that past data can be used to accurately predict future events. Of course, in a game of chance you never know what will happen next, so mathematical systems cannot be applied. If black comes up 20 times in a row or 101 times, does not change the odds of the next spin, which is always a 50 50 chance. Every spin of the wheel is independent of all other spins so there is no data that can be used to predict future spins. How to win at roulette There are two things to consider when trying to get the best odds to win at roulette. Play the table with the best odds The European wheel has 37 slots with a single 0; the American wheel has an extra slot, a 00 to making 38 slots.
The house advantage is 2.7% For European wheel and 5.26% for the American wheel. It is obvious to win at roulette you need to play the European table. Now we have the house edge down to just 2.7%, lets look at how to get the odds of winning a bit closer. Play the bet with the best odds Use bets whose odds are near to their payouts. These "even money" bets mean betting on Even, Odd, Low, (numbers 1 through 18), High, (numbers 19 through 36), Red, or Black. These bets pay out odds of 1: 1. and you'll find your odds of winning are about 45%, making it a sensible way to bet. The best of all! On many European single-zero wheels you will find a bet which takes advantage of a rule called 'en prison.' When you make an even money bet and the ball lands on zero, you don't lose your bet. Instead, your bet is 'imprisoned', and you let carry forward to the next spin. If your bet wins, you can then remove it from the table. The house edge here is cut in half and is just 1.35%, making it the bet with the best odds of winning for the player. Obviously, it gets boring if you use the same bet all the time, so you can vary the above bet with bets close to the payout. If we havent mentioned a bet above, it means the odds are not worth considering! You cant do more to win at roulette! In conclusion, to win at roulette dont buy a system. Simply, follow the above guidelines and you will have as much chance of winning as anyone else. Roulette is fun and exciting. Nothing quite beats the thrill and excitement of placing your bet and waiting for the ball to spin and come to a halt and see if your lucks in! Follow the above guidlines and amybe you will win big money at roulette. Good luck! Prozac Returns

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Kadence_Buchanan] Kadence Buchanan In the late eighties and early-nineties, Prozac was pronounced as the new wonder drug, a magical cure for depression that was patronized by millions of people worldwide. Prozac was later discredited when murmurs spread that it could spur suicidal tendencies in regular users. These days, Prozac is making a big comeback in the most unlikely of places: law enforcement. Online news reports last June 25 graphically detailed the latest plan of the United Kingdom to control sex offenders - feed them with Prozac until they're calm as lambs. It seems the British government, impressed with Prozac's calming effects, plans to administer the controversial drug to jailed pedophiles and other sex offenders. In doing this, they hope to tame the beastly nature of the inmates and shackles their libidos so they do not commit any more heinous crimes. The plan calls for 100 inmates from nine different prisons to serve as the first, recipients of Prozac in the British penal system. If the plan works, British authorities say they will proceed to administering Prozac to as many as 10% of the prison population and see if it'll calm them down. The plan is a rather unique way to approach the problem of sex offenders. You might say it's like castration on a mental and emotional level. You could also say that the plan is not morally ethical considering that it is tantamount to drugging the prisoners into submission, if not immobility. And then, there's also the controversial history of the drug to consider. Prozac was heaped upon the American public in 1988 and was an immediate smash hit. Millions flocked to drugstores to purchase the new drug, which seemingly had touched a raw nerve of depression that lay latent not only in America but in the rest of the world. It became cool to ingest Prozac. There is no doubt that the aggressive and creative marketing communications campaign that promoted Prozac was a tremendous boost. Sales hit the roof as the drug earned billions of dollars in sales annually. Then, in 1990, Prozac came under severe attack stemming from allegations that
Prozac made people preoccupied with thoughts of suicide. Eli Lilly and Company, makers of Prozac launched its own media campaign citing studies that refuted the connection between Prozac and suicide. Nothing was ever proven in court nor were there any settlements, But the damage had been done and Prozac's reputation was tarnished. Let's see if the British government can find some use for the drug that will help us all sleep a little better. Kadence Buchanan writes articles on many topics including

Auto Loan Refinancing

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Austin_Davis]Austin Davis You can make significant reductions in auto loan repayments through an auto loan refinancing. Such auto loan refinancing helps you repay your debts quicker and with less financial burden. What is refinancing? When you take an auto loan, you agree to repay the total amount within a certain time. Your repayments include the principal amount and the interest for loan period. During loan period if interest rates fall, you continue repaying at the same initial interest rates. You are therefore repaying higher amounts. You can lower your repayments by procuring refinance from another lender at lower interests. Such auto loan refinancing helps you pay off previous loan and you repay second lender at lower interest rates. Overall, you gain through lower repayments. When should I look for refinancing? You should look for auto loan refinancing if your lender does not offer you 0% to 3% annual percentage rate on your auto loan. Even during repayments, you need to be on the lookout for lower interest rates than your current repayment rates. Even a drop of one percentage on interest rates can provide huge financial relief. You can rather keep aside that amount for repayments towards your principal. You can opt for auto loan refinancing if you have bad credit. Lower interest rates reflect positively on your creditworthiness. Such refinancing lowers your monthly repayments and improves your financial position. Procedure for refinancing Applying for an auto loan refinancing is simple and you receive your refinanced loan within two days. Your initial auto loan amount is main consideration for such refinancing. Your refinance loan applications should be in same name as that of initial one for proper identification. Provide accurate vehicle information with correct model number, vehicle identification number, year, account number of auto loan, etc. These details help process your refinance loan quickly. Such refinance loan amount cannot exceed value of your vehicle. Whom to approach for refinancing You need not approach same lender for auto loan refinancing, although some lending companies do offer refinance. Refinancing can also be through various other lenders and lending institutions. You can find several of them on the Internet. Is it Lust or Love -- How to Tell the Difference

By Deborah Willis Far too many people, both men and women alike, confuse lust for love. Physical attraction alone will not withstand the test of time in relationships. Physical attraction is an important factor but must never be the only factor you rely upon when choosing a mate. Many make the mistake of confusing lust and love and end up broken-hearted when the relationship doesn't last. Perhaps you're wildly attracted to someone and thoughts of that person dominate your mind a good portion of the day and night. Perhaps you can't wait until the next time the two of you will be together again. When you are together you can't keep your hands off one another and when you're apart, you fantasize about the next time you can see one another. True love and lust are easily confused because they are so much alike. As a rule of thumb, if you share few other interests and have nothing in common other than an overwhelming physical desire for one another...it may be lust. If you have nothing of real value to say to one another and have difficulty relating to one another outside the sexual arena...it may be lust. If you don't particularly enjoy one another's company unless you're having sex...it may be lust. On the other hand, if your relationship is based on factors other than physical attraction and sex is not necessarily the number one priority...it may be love. Most long-term relationships are built on a strong friendship which turns into love over time. Having sex is not the driving force behind the relationship, but is a nice sideline to it. There really is such a thing as "love at first sight". It happens to many people and the relationship may last for the rest of their lives. A budding relationship based on lust feels much the same as one which is truly "love at first sight". So how do you tell the difference? Ask yourself the following questions. Read each question carefully and really think about it before answering. When answering, try to be as truthful as possible. If you can honestly and sincerely answer "yes" to all or nearly all of the questions, it may be safe to assume what you feel for the other person is actually love and not merely lust. Keep in mind, these questions are quite general and are in no way a total and complete checklist. 1. Do you share similar ethics, values, and morals? 2. Do you find it easy to talk to one another and can you talk freely about almost anything? 3. Do you enjoy the time you spend with one another, regardless of the activity? 4. Do you enjoy even the most mundane activities when you are together, simply because you ARE together? 5. Do you have a genuine concern for the happiness, safety, and well-being of the other person? 6. Are you able to work out any differences you may have with this person to the satisfaction of both of you? 7. When disagreements arise, are you able to discuss them openly and frankly without losing your temper? 8. Do you find yourself longing for this person's presence in your life in terms other than a sexual relationship? In other words, do you feel a need simply to be with that person and spend time with them even without having sex? 9. Can you laugh together and at one another, share jokes, and generally have fun together? 10. Does spending time with this person make you feel good about yourself? 11. Does this person give you a heightened sense of self-confidence and vitality? 12. Can you look at this person even when they are at their worst in their physical appearance (such as when they are sick) and not feel repulsed? 13. Do you share a strong mutual respect for one another? 14. Are you willing and able to share both good times and bad with this person and work through life's ups and downs together as a team? There is a very fine line between lust and love because the two of them are closely related. Being able to tell the difference can save you from wasting your time pursuing an unhealthy relationship which is doomed to eventual failure. If your long-term goal is to seek out a partner with whom you can build a solid, lifetime commitment, knowing the difference between lust and love is an essential and vital skill you'll want to master. Learning to accept a relationship for what it really is can mean the difference between a broken heart and a happy, fulfilling, lifetime of bliss with your partner. My Lucky Charm

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Pamela_Pompeii]Pamela Pompeii I use to have a Lucky Charm. It was a toe ring. I wore it on my baby toe. An old boyfriend of mine had given it to me. It was a cheap little thing. I don't know why I even wore it. Call me sentimental. The first night I wore it to a casino I won at the roulette table. I was betting straight-up on 33. It hit 3 times out of the 10 times I played. I walked away after the third hit. The next night I wore the toe ring to the casino I decided to play the slots. Im not much for playing the slots. Too much exercise and not enough pay out. But for some reason I decided to play. An hour into playing I was a hundred dollars down. But then I hit the 3 cherries. And it was a Progressive Jackpot machine I was playing. I walked out of the casino after hitting that jackpot. The third time I wore the toe ring was to a Poker Party my good friend Rachel was hosting. Just 5 girls getting together for a few drinks, a little gossip and a night of Texan Holdem. All of us were serious gamblers. By serious I mean we played to win. And we were very competitive with each other. All 5 of us were very good players and when we did get together to play poker very rarely did anyone come away a big winner. That night I couldnt do any wrong. The cards came my way and when they didnt my bluffing was impeccable. That evening I walked away with over 5 thousand dollars. A short time after that my lucky charm broke. Like I said, it was a cheap little thing. Im not sure why I think of it as a lucky charm. I had won at gambling many times before the charm and many times since. I guess I am like most gamblers superstitious. But the best lucky charm I have ever had has been my gambling systems and my brain. I would never give those up for a toe ring or a rabbits foot or any other superstitious charm. Copyright 2006 Pamela Pompeii. All rights reserved. Drawing Men's Attention - Three Steps to Grab His Attention

By Michael Douglas Fancy a guy? He'll be looking for these signals from you... Give him the 'lean-in' Most common and the safest move. Use this one initially. It may happen naturally, but this gesture shows interest and acceptance. Depending on what he's talking about, it means you just think he's the funniest, cutest, most fascinating creature put on the face of this earth. A casual lean-in might also allow him to check out more than just the colour of your eyes, player-girl, so don't end up falling on his lap. There's more yet... Give him the 'come hither' glance Let him know that you're interested by holding his gaze for more than five seconds. Eye-to-eye contact is both thrilling as well as intense and it can clearly convey your interest levels. This can vary from a mildly curios level to downright flirtation. So turn up the heat accordingly! Besides, men love to be the centre of a woman's attention. If you keep your eyes locked on his, the message you're giving him is that he's the only person in the vicinity who matters! A word of caution though - not all men dig such brazen behaviour. Go by the situation and judge accordingly. Use the 'hair twirl' move Now that you've got him grinning like a silly puppy, get him to eat out of your hands. While he's already reacting to your smile and teasing words, casually toss your hair over the side of your neck, exposing your nape. You'll notice his eyes dart - although he won't want you to notice this - to check out your neck. Do it right and there's every chance that you'll be on his mind for the remainder of the night. It's a primitive gesture of sexual anticipation laced with sexual anxiety. Michael Douglas is a relationship expert and he writes articles about love, dating, marriage and relationships. He offers free dating tips for women and advice on how to get a man to propose you and help you in finding Mr. Right. Summer Program For High School Students

By Eddie Tobey Summer programs for high school students are meant to motivate high school students who are preparing to start their college career and will benefit from participating in various interesting and challenging subjects. The programs help the participants to develop their talents in a variety of liberal arts subjects including creative writing, humanities, arts, science, history, geography, animation, dance, music, visual arts, video, and theater. A challenging summer program for high school students helps them to increase their chances of getting into a good college. The duration of the summer programs varies from two to five weeks. Most summer programs are designed so the students have the opportunity to explore the topics in depth, work at a challenging pace, and nurture new skills while learning topics that students of their age often do not have the chance to practice. In short, by attending summer programs students can build better communication skills, leadership qualities, increase self-confidence, gain essential international experience, and improve their global awareness. International summer programs for high school students are also offered by some organizations that take the students on an intensely moving educational journey of cultural exploration and discovery. As there are several summer programs offered for high school students, selecting the right program is an arduous task. It is vital to get the students opinion regarding the summer program they would like to attend. Consulting the school counselor is one of the best options available. The Internet is a rich resource to locate customized summer programs arranged by various schools, universities, colleges and organizations. The program schedule, expenses involved, and the topics covered are all provided in detail. Summer Programs provides detailed information on Summer Programs, Summer Camp Programs, Summer School Programs, Summer Program For High School Students and more. To Market or Not To Market: The Double-Edged Sword of Self-Promotion

By Fabienne Fredrickson Have you ever felt strange about marketing your services for fear of people thinking you werent successful enough or good enough at what you do? I was reading a transcript of marketer Dan Kennedys Coaching and Consulting Business Boot Camp this past week at the beach and I came across a section about the fine line between the need for marketing and not wanting to look like you NEED business. It struck a cord with me because I remember being stumped a few years ago, when a photographer I met at a networking function asked me, So, if youre such a marketing expert and you help people attract all the clients they need, what are you doing here at a networking group each week? I didnt know what to say at first. Never had it been posed to me that way. But then I started thinking about it all and I realized that I always have clients, because Im always marketing. I feel comfortable knowing that marketing is part of my business, a large part of it. It doesnt matter what you DO for a living, your primary job is marketing and your skill is whatever else you do to get paid by clients. So, if youre a consultant, youre not really a consultant, youre a marketer who consults. If youre an interior designer, youre not really an interior designer, youre a marketer who happens to help clients decorate their homes. And so on and so forth. Until a client of mine really GETS that, they always put marketing on the back burner, and as a result of not making marketing a priority in the past, theyve gotten lackluster, mediocre results. But when they realize that their MAIN job is marketing, then they just accept that thats what you do and start to do it well. Alternatively, they can just go back to the corporate world and get a paycheck again while having someone else breathe down their neck. (Ouch!) But I think the fine line we talked about between looking successful enough not to market and needing to market is really about CHASING clients. Its like anything in life: if someone is TOO eager about something, you start questioning their motives. Heres the line I read in that seminar transcript: The Ultimate Incongruity: If youre so good, why are you so available?...let alone chasing business??? The first key is that you never CHASE business. Its just too cheesy and it doesnt make people want to work with you. If you seem like you need them more than they need you, then youre in trouble. However, if you follow the Client Attraction System or are a client of mine, you know that its about creating value, trust, believability, and credibility over the long haul. Its about establishing yourself as a problem solver to your ideal clients and their biggest problems. Its about creating a RELATIONSHIP so that clients naturally come to YOU and no one else, WHEN theyre ready. Its never about chasing clients or strong-arming them to sign up with you. Heres the formula: Value plus Trust over Time. (As a side note, that photographer who almost stumped me with her question ended up being one of my favorite clients of all time, a RAVING fan and a consistent referral source of new clients to my practice. Shes also become one of the best and most diligent marketers Ive seen, and she markets consistently, not just when she needs clients. She GOT it.) YOUR ASSIGNMENT So, now that weve gotten away from any semblance of you chasing business and looking too eager, what would you say if someone asked YOU that Ultimate Incongruity question? Heres what I say: I market consistently because I know that if you dont market consistently, you dont always have clients. Even when I have a waiting list of people waiting to work with me, I still dont stop marketing. Id be foolish to do that.
Two clients recently graduated, so I have openings for just two new clients.
I have decided to take on more clients because(tell the truth). Oh and by the way, always tell the truth. Thats what authentic marketing is about. Thats how being a marketer with integrity makes you stand out in the marketplace. Anything else would be sleazy and thats not Client Attractive. 2006 Client Attraction LLC. All Rights Reserved. Budgeting for a Postcard Mailing

By Martha Retallick If you've never done a postcard mailing, you're probably wondering, "What should I budget for?" Here are three items to account for:
1. If you're a designing woman (or man), then you'll need to get that great postcard design out of your computer and into the hands of the postcard printing company. If you have a high-speed Internet connection, you're in luck. You can just upload your files to the printer's website.
Dialup people, you'd be better off sending your files to the printer via an overnight courier. It's easy to experience dropped connections when you're on dialup, which means that your digital file can get corrupted, and the printer won't be able to print from it.
2. Printing and delivery of the cards to your business or to the company that will be mailing the cards for you. (These outfits are called "mailshops" or "mailing houses.")
If you're on a tight budget, you can use your desktop printer to print your postcards. However, please be aware that this can be quite time-consuming, especially if you're doing hundreds of cards. That's why I prefer to outsource this job to a postcard printing company.
3. Postage. This could mean that you're buying some stamps for your cards. Or you may be outsourcing the card mailing to a mailshop, which will charge you for bulk mail postage, and assess a handling fee. Martha Retallick, "The Passionate Postcarder," hails from Tucson, Arizona, USA. She is the author of Postcard Marketing Secrets, a downloadable PDF manual will show you how to put postcards to work for your business--profitably.
